Rasamani – Solidified Mercury–Copper Alloy
Our Rasamani is prepared based on traditional Siddha literature using a meticulous and time-consuming heating procedure. The key ingredients include cinnabar (mercury sulfide), copper sulfate, and a variety of herbal components like Aloe vera, Acalypha indica, and Datura metel. The result is a high-quality, solidified mercury-copper alloy with an orange-red color.
Key Features:
Traditional Preparation: Prepared using ancient Siddha protocols, ensuring authenticity and quality.
Physico-Chemical Properties: Our Rasamani is a solidified mercury-copper alloy (76.19%) with reduced hardness compared to normal copper. It retains its color, weight, and hardness even after heating, as per Siddha quality standards.
Unique Composition: The preparation involves a rigorous process with both inorganic and herbal ingredients, resulting in a stable and potent formulation.

Preparation of Rasamani Doc

Preparation Method
Prepare Vediuppu Dravagam
Heat potassium nitrate & alum in a distillation setup. Discard initial colorless distillate; collect yellow‑orange liquid (vediuppu dravagam).
Extract Mercury from Cinnabar
Grind cinnabar with vediuppu dravagam (~12h). Sublime in traditional apparatus; collect silver‑white mercury (vaalai rasam).
Make Vediuppu Jeyaneer
Pound CuSO₄, salts, alum, camphor, and herbs; incinerate to ash; soak overnight to obtain a thick liquid (jeyaneer).
Prepare Thurusu Chunnam (Copper Oxide)
Grind CuSO₄ with jeyaneer, form cakes, dry, and calcine repeatedly until the blue turns white.
Mercury–Copper Amalgam
Layer chunnam (7.5 g) → mercury (85 g) → chunnam (7.5 g) in an iron vessel, cover with water, rest overnight; grind, wash, and filter to yield a silver paste amalgam.
Heat with Aloe Vera
Heat amalgam in Aloe vera juice (~6h) (surukku) to slightly harden.
Encapsulate with Acalypha indica
Coat amalgam with leaf paste and heat; hardness increases.
Datura Titration ×100
Place amalgam inside Datura metel fruits, seal with clay, heat to ash. Repeat 100 times: color transitions silver → green (≈10th) → red (≈100th) with progressive hardening.
Quality (Melting) Test
Per Siddha standards, check that rasamani retains color, weight, and hardness after heating.
